Frances leads the Sustainable Specialties programme, which combines research with practical action to improve patient care at a lower environmental and social cost. Frances designed CSH’s Principles of Sustainable Clinical Practice and has developed a framework for incorporating sustainability into quality improvement in healthcare. She studied medicine at Oxford University and at the Royal Free & University College London Medical School, trained in renal medicine, and worked for five years in the UK National Health Service.
