
Claire Igoe

Claire Igoe is the Group Associate Director of Sustainability at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust and is currently seconded into NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care for 3 days a week as the Interim Net Zero Programme Director. Claire began her career in the pharmaceutical sector, before transitioning into the environmental sector and spending several years at an environmental charity delivering funded and private environmental consultancy services. She then moved into the healthcare sector, establishing one of the first sustainability programmes, and leading on the development and delivery of the strategy. Building on a technical skill base, Claire has developed strong strategic sustainability skills, and is experienced in engaging staff at all levels, including Board. Claire has developed a strong collaborative working style and has been leading the delivery of a sustainability programme on behalf of NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care. Claire chaired the NHS Sustainability Leads Group for several years and currently co-chairs the Shelford Sustainability Leads Group, which comprises of the ten largest teaching and research hospitals in England. Claire has a degree in Chemistry with Industrial Environmental Chemistry from the University of Warwick, and also holds a Master’s degree from the University of Manchester in Pollution and Environmental Control. Claire is a full member of IEMA (Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment) and a Chartered Environmentalist.
